My Professional Work

I’ve been writing and publishing my entire life. Back in high school I created a fantasy roleplaying game fanzine, though it was embarrassingly awful. I earned a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College with a major in creative writing and a minor in medieval studies. I worked three years for my hometown’s weekly newspaper, two years as a reporter and one year as editor. West End Game hired me to establish the quarterly Star Wars Adventure Journal to support its Star Wars Roleplaying Game, and I edited the Journal and contributed to the company's other roleplaying game lines for five years before West End went bankrupt. Since then I’ve had a variety of odd jobs, mostly office positions, mostly part-time, while pursuing freelance and personal game-publishing projects.

Bibliography

During more than 30 years in publishing I’ve built a long bibliography. From newspaper articles to game sourcebooks and most recently blog articles about the adventure gaming hobby, my bibliography offers a glimpse at the range of projects I’ve created over the years. Peruse my bibliography.

Griffon Publishing Studio

Since 2005 I’ve released roleplaying game material and wargames through my Griffon Publishing Studio imprint. Most publications come in downloadable PDFs readers can also print, but a few title are available through Lulu’s print-on-demand service. You can find them all on the Griffon Publishing Studio electronic storefronts at DriveThruRPG, Wargame Vault, and Lulu; but you can read a summary of my works here.

Free Downloads

Over the years I’ve released a few game offerings just for fun. I’ve collected them here for reference and download; you’ll find those related to games released through Griffon Publishing on their respective pages at DriveThruRPG and Wargame Vault as “free/pay-what-you-want” products. Check out my free game materials.

Accolades

Over the years I’ve received compliments my writing has garnered from readers.

The author designed Panzer Kids to let grownups run tabletop miniatures battles featuring the most iconic armored vehicles of WW2 for their little gamers as young as 7. He succeeds, and at the same time, introduces new gamers to all the classic concepts of miniature wargaming, making Panzer Kids an effective gateway to the hobby.”

West End Games

I worked on the Star Wars Roleplaying Game line with West End Games during the 1990s before the company declared bankruptcy in 1998. Since then I’ve occasionally discussed aspects of the company’s games, including an overview of favorite Star Wars game products and a brief history of the D6 System. Read my material about West End Games, the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, and the D6 System.
